Music Central is a music school and performance space which specialises in classical and jazz instrument tuition, as well as music theory and musicianship group workshops.
Professional service, friendly team, flexible conditions.
We want to provide children of all ages with the space to develop excellent music skills through tuition and performance. With regular concerts and events throughout the year, Music Central is a community of music enthusiasts of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. As you might have guessed from the name, we want to be the centre of musical activities in Cardiff.
From early childhood classes, through instrumental tuition for school children and up to our adult learners, we want to offer the best possible space for our students to study music.
We believe in holistic music education, so as well as offering individual tuition in musical instruments, we provide theory and musicianship classes. Music is a social activity and we want our students to develop into well-rounded musicians, accustomed to working in groups but also with the confidence to perform alone. We enrich our curriculum with regular performance opportunities in student concerts and chamber music recitals.
We also host professional performances by musicians of many styles and genres, including classical and jazz.
Music Central works with a pool of 25 musicians covering all instruments.
Lessons in our city-centre venue, plenty of parking available on-site, fully equipped recording studio, sound-proof teaching rooms, grand piano and concert venue with space for 150 people.
We charge £18 for 30 minutes, £27 for 45 minutes and £35 for 60 minutes of individual tuition. There are bursaries available to offer talented and motivated children a reduced rate, please get in touch for further details.
Samuel has been having piano lessons with Immanuel for about a year now, and as my husband and I are both trained pianists with have a strong interest in Sam’s lessons. What I like most is that Immanuel really does push him to tackle pieces that are a little more challenging, although this can sometimes be a problem if Sam isn’t feeling particularly enthusiastic. He tends to get Sam to give what he’s working on several tries but if Immanuel sees that Sam really isn’t getting in to it, they will move on to something fresh with the intention of going back. This is Sam’s third piano teacher and lots of attention is given to details which can be missed by others such as how to sit at the stool, proper hand and finger placement, paying attention to reading the music. Generally we're pretty happy with Immanuel.
I really want my children to enjoy playing the piano and to be happy having lessons. Immanuel pitches everything just right for my family and creates an atmosphere that makes it fun for them to learn in. Immanuel is delightful, very professional and courteous and great at reminding me when we have a piano lesson! Owen really likes that he is happy to talk about football with him too! We have been to see Immanuel perform in a Children's Christmas Concert and he was incredible. Inspirational!

My daughter has been having piano lessons with Immanuel since April this year and she has already made great progress. Immanuel is very enthusiastic, encouraging and patient. He helps his students to learn how to play the piano and progress through the grades, my daughter has reached Grade 4 already! My daughter has lessons every week at home and she loves absolutely everything about playing the piano!
