I am a fully qualified classroom Maths teacher who taught in secondary schools for four years. For the last five years I've worked solely as a full time Maths tutor in the Brighton and Hove area. I've worked with children, teenagers and adults helping them to improve their confidence and gain the qualifications they desire.
At GCSE level I have a proven track record of pushing students who are achieving E / D grades to C grades in a short period of time. Last year all my students achieved at least a C grade.
I also work with children at KS2 and KS3, who are underachieving, to regain their confidence and love of Maths.
I am able to come to your home if you live within the Brighton and Hove area. An adult will need to be present in the house for all tutoring sessions. I will have to charge you for any parking costs if free parking isn't available. We can also do tutoring in public places such as libraries, if coming to your house is inconvenient.
I am fully CRB checked and have Qualified Teacher Status.
I charge a basic rate of £25 per hour.
Feel free to email me any questions or call me on 07763838690.
Regards
Ken Stafford

James is being partly home tutored at the moment and Ken has been fantastic. He is able to complete so much more in one lesson than the one that James would be missing at school. He and James have a great rapport and Ken has really helped with James's sense of achievement. This level of teaching has helped to reduce James' anxiety levels about not catching up, and he feels "back on track". We are presently working with Ken and the school to see if some of his assessments can be completed at home under exam conditions.
We started using Ken last year for home tututoring after my son had surgery. He's been brilliant as Louis find maths difficult and he has really motivated him and rebuilt his confidence to assist in his return to school. He has built a good relationship with him, and whilst keeping the lessons fun, manages to maintain focus on the subject. He has a very calm manner with Louis and has re-ignited his interest in the subject. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending him.
He is a really good Maths tutor, he has helped me a lot.

I was very happy with Ken's tutoring of my son, Lawrence. I can definitely recommend him as an excellent maths tutor. Lawrence had missed schooling for several reasons, and therefore had home tutoring once a week with Ken. He had little confidence in his maths' ability initially and it was the subject he dreaded. He also had low self esteem generally. Despite having less than a year to study for GCSE Ordinary Level, he gained a Grade C which was an incredible achievement, and I can only say it was down to the thoroughness and teaching methods Ken used, as well as good preparation in the lead up to the exams. Ken also established a good rapport, from the outset, with Lawrence and I believe the whole process gave Lawrence back his own self belief and confidence.

Ken has been really good with Alfie and did an intensive course of 2-3 lessons per week for a few weeks ahead of mock GCSEs. We have recommended Ken to friends who have a daughter in year 8 and Ken has adapted to both children really well – he seems to be able to teach at all levels and abilities. Ken is dynamic and engages the kids with different ways of teaching. He is also really responsive and communicates well which is important as working parents!
