It's all about... Fashion!

With the excitement of London Fashion week just over KalliKids caught up with some local trend setting kids from The Fashion School in Brighton who have been busy all summer learning to sew on machines, make their own clothes and even a spot of tie dyeing!

The Fashion School have enjoyed a sell-out season and founder Caroline Gration tells us why here.

‘Our super Fashion Show at The Emporium in Brighton provided an excellent platform for our young fashionistas to show off their designs to a very proud audience. The children had made a variety of outfits from dresses, shorts, leggings and tops to super trendy onesies!

If you'd like a look at the super designs and what fun we had, there is a short video of the event is on http://www.thefashionschool-uk.com/.

Gill from Ditto Fabrics was our fashion savvy judge and did an excellent job picking out future sewing bees to award prizes. After a lot of deliberation, the prizes of 1 day workshops at The Fashion School went to Scarlet (9) for her wonderful playsuit, Jasmine (12) for her lace and herringbone jersey dress and Gemma (13) for her red and white polka dot dress with a vintage feel. Gill was so impressed with the show, she gave an extra award to little Phoebe (7).

Next step Milan and Paris girls!

This Sunday we will be catching the train with 9 of our budding young designers to watch a London Fashion Weekend catwalk show at beautifully historic Somerset House. We'll be watching the trends for next spring summer and looking at the stunning clothes before returning back to Brighton with our fashion goodie bags! We're full up on this trip, but running one next March if you think you might like to come.

We’ve also been busy with regular classes across Brighton and Hove Monday to Saturday with specialist workshops on Sundays. They're all totally different and range from Little Miss Fashion on Monday to Teenage Textiles on Friday.

Our parties have been busy making everything from toiletries bags to tie dye. September and October must be the month when young sewing bees are born as we have parties every weekend until November!

Parties start from just £10 per child. More details of classes and parties at The Fashion School can be found here.
