KalliKids completes successful Cross-Channel Internship

KalliKids, the accreditation service that brings together families with quality activity providers who are recommended by parents, offered a placement to Eglantine Desurmont, a Design graduate from Lille who thrived within the company and is returning to France with some invaluable experience. During her internship, Eglantine’s duties included working on content for the KalliKids.com website and designing new leaflets to advertise children’s activities and services.

The GAPS project brings together seven partners in southern England, Northern France and the Rotterdam area of Holland, each facing rising youth unemployment rates in their local areas. The project aims to reduce unemployment by developing new strategies for young people. As part of this, City College offers cross-border work placements to add value to existing experience and help its students stand out from the crowd.

'The most enjoyable things were the good atmosphere of a small sized company and working with a very welcoming and warm marketing team', says Eglantine. 'This internship allowed me to put into practice what I‘d seen in theory during my studies. Of course, I‘ll also take back to France a professional experience abroad and a better standard of English. As for encouraging others to take up this opportunity, I’d say, just do it! You’ll not regret it and the only problem you may encounter is not wanting to leave.'

'Giving a chance to young graduates and school leavers is vital for the economy and brings new ideas into a business', says KalliKids founder, Karen Bach. 'I’d recommend international placements to other businesses without hesitation. The candidate gains professional experience but also friends and many new experiences on a personal level. The business gains new ideas, a team member and acquires skills that it may not have had previously. It’s a win-win situation.'
