We are holding alteration clinics so if your children need their new school uniforms altered before the new term then come along to us and we will advise you on what to do or leave the items with us and we will alter them for you. From hems to zips, tears and splits, taking in or out just ring us.
Earlier in the year we were commissioned to design and make clothes for Go Ape's mascot monkey which we are now selling in our shop. Go Ape has the whole collection on display in Crawley and you can order direct from us.
During school holidays we operate children's workshops daily (to avoid disappointment bookings are a must). The February 1/2 term workshops will be run daily 10am - 12 noon or 1pm - 3pm and will include sewing, wet felting or jewellery making. At these workshops the children can make something for themselves or a mother's day gift.
We also after school workshops on Monday and Wednesday afternoons 4pm – 5.30pm.
On our adult courses we teach the following:-
These are just a few of the courses/workshops we offer.
Have you any alterations, mending or zip replacements that need doing? If yes bring them to us and we will do what’s needed at a reasonable rate.
We also offer taster courses. One session 2 ½ hours £25.00, 2 sessions 2 x 2 ½ hours £40.00.
We organise boys and girls aged 7+ birthday parties (5min – 10max children, 2 hours duration). We can do the catering (not the birthday cake) or you can bring your own. Why not incorporate a visit to the Nature Centre, just across from our premises, in the birthday treat. See pics.
We also hold baby showers and hen parties (2 hours duration) where guests can make a square of patchwork, leave it with us and we will make it into a quilt which can be given to the new bride or mother. A buffet can be arranged but BYO alcohol.

I go to Patchwork classes with Sew n Beads and really enjoy them. Sukh and Bernie are really friendly and work very well together. Whenever they have children there, there are always 2 or more staff there to help solve any problems that might arise. The classes are in a really nice environment. They do a fabulous Mums and Children workshop where they can work alongside each other, both completing work that complements each other, and is tailored to their abilities. Their style of teaching is very good - for instance they know that I don't work very well with instructions, but need to carry out the task, so they always talk me through different methods . The workshops are really good value as materials are included and the service you receive is fabulous.
I go to several classes at Sew n Beads - dress making and pattern cutting classes which are brilliant – if I’m making something, I can always pop in with any queries and they’re happy to help. I then decided to hold my daughter's 7th birthday party there. I was slightly nervous before as to whether a group of 10 7 & 8 year old girls would be kept occupied but it was amazing! They provided hot and cold food for the children (healthy and good quality), and party bags which consisted of take home and make bookmarks and sweets. Sukh had made beautiful big felt flower name badges for each child, with their name sewn on, and they could also take these home. The girls made felt hearts, sewed on decorations, and then stuffed and sewed them. A couple of adults stayed with me to help threading etc, so no child was ever stuck for long. Sukh also provided music and a game to play. The party was unbelievably good, the two hours flew past, and all the children wanted to stay and do more sewing - can't recommend it highly enough.
I go to dressmaking classes with Sew n Beads and have also sometimes helped with the childrens sewing classes. Bernie and Sukh are so lovely - very kind and caring with the children - and its fantastic now that they're based in Tilgate Park. The classes are in a lovely environment. It's a great idea to join their mailing list - brilliant ideas for workshops etc for the school holidays and then the kids can go and play in the park afterwards.
My daughter has been attending these sewing classes every other week since September 2013. She thoroughly enjoys the classes. They are relaxed, friendly and she gets to be involved in projects she wouldn't otherwise. She is very proud of the bag,the owl and the large teddy bear she has made. Would recommend to any "crafty" child who likes to keep their hands busy.
We came across Sew n Beads by chance and thought we pop in to inquire about a party for my daughters 9th birthday. We met the lovely ladies who runs the workshop and had a look at the beautiful and cosy premises, by the time we left we had booked the party. We arrived on the party day and the first thing we saw was a huge happy birth day banner outside the shop. The ladies greeted us and were fussing over Ellen giving her a beautiful hand made felt flower pin. The guests arrived and the kids were guided though the process of making their own wet felt master piece. The kids loved it and they got to bring home a unique piece of art. The ladies were great, very clear and concise. The food was good and they even had time to play a few games. Ellen and I were very impressed with the party and can recommend parties at Sew n Beads. Ellen said that it was the best party she has had so far.
