A grand day out - Fishers Adventure Farm Park

In the Gammon and Chips household, summer means lots of fun days out. So we invited them along to review KalliKids accredited Fishers Adventure Farm Park in West Sussex.

I must admit that I’d never heard of Fishers Farm Park before. Maybe that’s just because it’s in West Sussex, whereas we live in the East – a silly reason, I know, but sometimes I find it’s too easy with two kids to stay in our little Brighton bubble. Summer is, afterall, about exploration, so we packed up the trusty 7-seater, off we went, and arrived before we knew it.

The huge painted map at the park entrance showed that it was much bigger than I had expected. Hmmm. Where to start? We thought we’d ease ourselves in, so first up the kids had a play on an assortment of pedal karts – nearly 4 year old Gammon hopped on the back of 7 year old Daisy’s, and 18 month old Chips even did some bouncing along on her own little red tractor.

Next up, the fun fair type rides – two 1950s merry-go-rounds, some boat swings and two red and yellow striped jumping pillows (one for toddlers and one for big kids) – kind of like giant inflatable trampolines. Gammon tried to jump as high as he could, while Chips sat down on them and giggled every time someone else’s bounce caused her to spring up into the air a little.

We were lucky with the weather, so next we visited the Splash Attack area and the kids all stripped down and ran under the water squirters for a much needed cool-down. A quick snack then the draw of the Water Paddlerz proved too strong for Daisy and Gammon (the others were too young).

At the Alpine Adventure area there was a small ‘ice rink’ to ride funny little sit-on wheelie devices, the Summit Plummet climbing area for the bigger kids (Daisy heroically made it to the top), and the very steep and scary looking Cresta Fun Toboggan Run, which Gammon threw himself off with his usual gung ho-ness while I watched in a shuddering mess like the mother of a Formula 1 racing car driver.

Quite by chance we stumbled upon the peaceful Enchanted Wood area of little cubby houses, hidden statues and trinkets set amongst a beautiful forest with fairy lights and all things magical. The coolness of the woods made for a nice break from the heat (and it was much kinder on our ice creams!)

I thought this must have been the end of the park, but there was still so much to see – the farm animals, two mini mazes, the Lighthouse Slides, the Jolly Fisher pirate ship climbing frame, Squirrel Scramble tree walk, Forgotten Farm Adventure Golf, a climbing wall, Romany gypsy caravans, pony rides, trampolines, a ghost train, a theatre, indoor play areas… the list goes on! And of course, the Big Red Tractor Ride, using the very same tractor that was featured in the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics!

With prices from £32 (saver season) to £56 (peak season) for a family of 4 (under 2s go free), we really recommend it as a fun family day out. I was pleasantly surprised by the number and range of activities, and the fact that both Gammon and Chips could happily get involved in most of them

If you’re after a grand day out in Sussex this summer check out Fishers Adventure Farm Park. It gets a score of 5 trampoline bounces out of 5 from Family Gammon & Chips!

I must say this does look good value for a family day out, especially if you remember to pack a picnic and drinks as this can take up the price. I love that there is so much to do there, I bet it really is a full day out. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
